Dividend Management

SpeyBooks now has comprehensive dividend management — something neither Xero nor FreeAgent offer as a built-in feature.

Dividend Wizard Refactor

• Streamlined four-step wizard — the dividend declaration flow (profit check → board minutes → allocate → summary) has been refactored into focused, maintainable components while keeping the exact same user experience.
• Shared dividend library — payment methods, status labels, tax calculations, and voucher downloads now come from a single source of truth, eliminating inconsistencies across pages.

Mark as Paid & Void

• Mark dividend as paid — declared dividends can now be marked as paid with a payment date. This creates the corresponding payment journal automatically.
• Void dividends — dividends can be voided with a reason, which creates reversal journals and releases the amount back to the board minutes allocation.

Dividend Summary

• Per-director breakdown — a new summary page shows each director’s total declared, total paid, and outstanding amounts for the current financial year with visual progress bars.
• Navigation links — the dividend history table now links directly to the summary page for quick access.

Board Minutes

• Board minutes page — browse all board meeting resolutions at /dividends/board-minutes. Each entry shows the meeting date, status, approved amount, and a progress bar showing how much has been declared against it.
• Expandable detail — click any board minutes entry to see the associated dividends with director names, voucher numbers, amounts, and payment status.

DLA Year-End Snapshots

• Snapshot capture — take a year-end snapshot of any director’s loan account from their detail page. The system automatically calculates S455 corporation tax exposure, the S455 payment deadline, and Benefit in Kind liability using HMRC’s average method.
• Expandable snapshot cards — each snapshot shows the period end date, S455 status, and BIK applicability at a glance. Expand for full details including S455 rate, deadline, BIK official rate, average balance, overdrawn days, and P11D deadline.
• Duplicate protection — the system prevents creating multiple snapshots for the same director and period end date.

Director Detail Page

• Richer layout — the director detail page now includes DLA balance cards with warnings, editable director information, loan transaction history, year-end snapshots, and dividend history — all in focused, composable sections.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed snapshot API client using incorrect endpoint paths, which caused “Endpoint not found” errors when creating DLA snapshots.
• Fixed board minutes status badges displaying raw database values instead of human-readable labels.
